In Memory of Field Commander Cohen

Leonard Cohen gave us songs about sweet, romantic love as well as about doubt and self-loathing, about passion and lust, about innocence and rage, about soul-searching and the divine, about war and politics, and mundane matters and things that for others would have stayed diary entries. Often enough, his songs make listeners tear up and choke, or even get angry, but it can't be easily said if that's out of sympathy for the cast of his songs, or if it's from the searing pain of self-recognition.

But they certainly touched us, and we were made better for it.

DJ Vollkasko's aural memorial service presents Leonard Cohen's work refracted through the prism of inspired covers, as well as through select songs namedropping the man himself.
