words:

peace go with you brother.

a dedication to one of the real greats who left the planet may 27th 2011.
Dear Gil Scott-Heron - the revolution will still not be televised, but it's happening
step by step, with loads of help by your words & encouragement, so it did back in the 70 & 80s, so it will be happening in the near future. you've been not "new here" in 2010 when you came back with all your blues and lyrics that still can't find equivalents among musicians and poets today. your unique voice, your lyrics, your music and yourself as a man with a true sense of humour in between your strong political work and views will be sorely missed, but your memory lives on through your music.
thank you for always standing up and strong to yourself,
so now may you find your peace somewhere in heaven,
maybe sit down next to Robert Johnson . . .

until we meet up there,

peace go with you brother.

words:

a bit of a different vibe this week, just music that came to my mind when Bing Ji Lings fine mix arrived out of New York,
spontaneous selection, into the spring summer mood. Including an exclusive airing of Fat Freddys Drop recorded live at legendary
show last August in Cologne. Thanks to The Drop and RBMRA for sending this over.
Check Bing Ji Lings album "Shadow To Shine" via Tummy Touch & Lovemonk Records, it's special. Looking forward to his liveshows and DJing sometime soon in Europe...he is also accompanied by his buddy Tommy Guerrero on this album, in return he is playing in his band since many years.

next week more new bits and pieces out of the box....

enjoy the music.

words:

On May 8th 2011 the Blues originator Robert Johnson would have been 100 years old. If you say that Blues is the mother of all music which came afterwards like Soul, Jazz, Rock'n'Roll and also todays diverse musical excursions then Robert Johnson may have jammed with some of the artists featured in this weeks soulsearching. Random selection, from the extraordinary album by Colin Stetson to a great new talent out of Toronto, Jesse Futerman, the amazing Fatima with Floating Points, the wonderful compositions by Robag Wruhme and Mount Kimbie as well as Sven Kacireks Kenya takes in an edit by Lawrence and the rerelease of Lucky Browns killer LP via Tramp Records plus exclusives like Ben Westbeechs new album on Strictly Rythm, postponed to a September release or Joseph Maliks diverse return into directions in music. Then into some of todays definitions of the Blues and a little long version section with Luis Gasca, Glenn Underground, Gil Scott-Heron - unreleased remix by Aleph and back into 2011 with Nicola Conte and Nailah. Finishing off with a song for my daughter - she's so much into this Ladi6 gem from her last album.

All good, spontaneous random play done, now . . .

enjoy the music.

words:

all about 50 years of men in space, Juri Gagarin has been the very first man in space, all others followed and will follow still. From moon to mars to rings around saturn. A guy called Konrad Kuhn out of Stuttgart sent me his brilliant "Astral Travellin" mix out of nowhere and so gave the inspiration for this show. His mix is not only musicwise filled with some of the finest moments in music but also put together by using original words taken from Apollo 11 documentary records including comments by Wernher von Braun, Dr. Herbert Pichler & Chet Huntley. Very good tribute ! Thanks , Konrad - check more of his mixes via soundcloud.com.

before the take off into space you'll be hearing more music by Nicola Conte, Jamie Woon, fLako - one of THE beatmakers of the now from his full length album, DJ Oil album preview, Bugge Wesseltoft jamming alongside Henrik Schwarz - the Duo doin a Sunday Music classic, Africa Hitech replay plus some of my "space records". Finishing off with a soulsearching classic by Abacus and an unreleased remix for Ayo by Brian Bacchus and Joe Claussell, better known as Soulfeast.

Life Is Real.

enjoy the music.
